New Jersey Lottery Announces Appointment of Dr. Jimmy Jung
To the New Jersey Lottery Commission
TRENTON (January 28, 2026) – The New Jersey Lottery announced that Jimmy Jung has been sworn in as the newest member of the Lottery Commission. Nominated by then-Governor Murphy and confirmed by the state Senate on January 12, Jung of Millburn was sworn in prior to the Lottery Commission’s monthly meeting in January.
Commissioner Jung holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Quantitative Methods from the City University of New York Graduate Center. He also earned a master’s degree in Applied Statistics from the CUNY Graduate Center and a master’s degree in Psychology from The City College of New York. Dr. Jung began his academic career at Hunter College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology.
Dr. Jung serves as a Senior Vice Chancellor at Rutgers University–Camden, where he oversees enrollment management, student affairs, and institutional data analytics. With more than 20 years’ experience in higher education leadership, he is recognized for driving effective change management and improving institutional performance.
A nationally recognized expert in data-informed strategic planning, Dr. Jung has served on advisory boards for organizations including IBM, SPSS and McGraw-Hill. His expertise is frequently sought by educational and nonprofit institutions, particularly in the areas of marketing strategy, financial-aid leveraging, program evaluation, advanced data modeling, and student-success innovation.
Current Lottery Commissioners include Chairman Ian K. Leonard of Camden, Vice Chairman Robert J. D’Anton of Lavallette, and Dr. Munr Kazmir of Closter. The bi-partisan Lottery Commission is comprised of seven members, including the State Treasurer and the Director of the Division of Investments as ex officio members, alongside five public members appointed by the Governor with Senate approval. Public members serve five-year terms and are non-salaried, ensuring a commitment to public service and integrity. The New Jersey Lottery’s Chief Operating Officer is the Executive Director who also serves as Secretary to the Commission.
